Time To Take Control!

I had the opportunity to attend a Mega Zone Conference yesterday, which inspired me to write about this topic today! President Calderwood spoke about having self-control and self-mastery. He shared a story about how he saw this car swerving in and out through traffic while driving down this steep mountain. President thought that man was the coolest and most talented man ever! His father had the opportunity to teach a very important lesson. And that lesson is "Control brings freedom, and no boundaries bring regret." We must control our thoughts and actions. Satan is out there to distract us towards the path to our Father in Heaven. We cannot let him control us. We were created to ACT, not to be acted up. I then realized that I need to pray again to receive another witness that God is our loving Father in Heaven, that Jesus is the Christ, Savior and Redeemer of man-kind, and that the Holy Ghost testifies and teaches truth. Take control of your life, rekindle your testimony through diligent scripture studies and prayer. If we do not take control now, then we will end up like that car that President Calderwood thought was so "cool", destroyed! The car smashed into a truck that was on the oncoming traffic. "Be anxiously engaged in a good cause... For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves." "Pray always that you may come off conqueror". Keep the commandments and be obedient. Then you will find happiness and peace, safety and love.

Let's Give Thanks!

Thanksgiving is coming up soon. It reminds me, of course, to be thankful for the things I have been blessed with.
Here are 5 things that I am most grateful for:
1. My family who loves me.
2. An education!
3. Computers and Phones.
4. Food and drinks ( I am especially grateful for food to fill my constant hungry belly! :) )
5. Light and the Sun.

There are a lot of things that I am grateful for. The list can go on forever and ever! Always remember to be thankful for the things you have. It will show us how much we have been given. Because we have been given much, we must give to others. This Thanksgiving holiday is a wonderful time to give.

One thing that you can give to me is a list of 5 things you are grateful for! Comment and share with me your 5 things you are thankful for. Share this with your friends and family and invite them to share their list as well. Lets try to get a list of 500 things we are grateful for by Thanksgiving!

Scripture Power!

The scriptures bring a wonderful spirit when they are read with an open heart and curious mind. I have an experience to share to prove this statement. When I was reading in the Book of Mormon one night, I came across this scripture that says, " Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall into the world." When I read that scripture, I instantly had the goose bumps! It was simple, but the message that it proclaimed was very powerful. As I continued to read, the people came and felt the prints in His hands and in His feet so that they would know that Jesus is the Savior of the world. They did so and they came to a knowledge that it really was He who the prophets testified about. Through the scriptures we read accounts that share amazing stories that prove that Jesus is the Christ. President Boyd K. Packer said, "Peace can be settled in the heart of each who turns to the scriptures and unlocks the promises of protection and redemption that are taught therein." I was filled with peace and now I completely understand that through Jesus Christ, I can have peace and joy in this life. The scriptures bring the power of the Atonement into our lives and our homes as we read them and apply the principles that are taught within. I know that this is true. Please put it to the test. Study the scriptures and pray to understand them. I promise that you will have protection against the adversary. Let the power of the scriptures come into your life!

Don't Forget to Remember!

Remember is a unique word! The definition of Remember is to have in or be able to bring to one's mind an awareness of (someone or something that one has seen, known, or experienced in the past). We always need to remember our schedule for the day or remember special days like Halloween! But one thing that will benefit us most is to remember God, our loving Father in Heaven. We cannot remember living with Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, in the pre-mortal world. But with the Holy Ghost we can be able to see and remember that life. The Spirit will help us remember our sacred relationship with the Father and the Son. The KEY to remembrance is to have the Holy Ghost as a constant companionship. Strive all the day long to remember Heavenly Father, that He loves you and that you are His child. Always remember His Son Jesus Christ, that He suffered for your pains and afflictions. As you remember Them, you will be able to call upon them in times of need. Always remember Him and you will come to know that God has never forgotten you.  I know that He does love us and cares about us. He blesses us daily, and as you remember daily, you will see His hand in your life. Then you will know, as I know, that God has not forsaken us. Always Remember and never forget! Don't forget to Remember!

Stand Your Ground!

In a war, we need to stand our ground. We do all we can to protect the people we are fighting for! If we lose our grounds, then the enemy will conquer and eventually defeat us. We do not want to be defeated by anyone. The one sad thing that a lot of people do not understand is that we are at war. A war that is spiritually fought. The devil is leading us away from our loving Heavenly Father. Satan is seeking to destroy our divine potential; which is to become like our Father. We cannot let him do this! We have to fight back. We have to stay mentally strong so we know when we are under attack. We have to prepare ourselves for battle. Prayer and studying the scriptures will best prepare ourselves for this continuous battle. Always be on your guard. The Lord is our best ally. He will never let us down. With Him, we will always come off conqueror. With the strength of our Savior Jesus Christ, we can win the battle between good and evil. The last thing that will ensure our success over Satan, is to obey the word of God. If we keep the commandments of God, then we will be entitled to His help. We will not fail.

All That I Am, I Owe To My Mother.

Mothers have an important role in God's plan of happiness. They have been given the role to bear the children that are starting their journey here on earth. They have the sacred duty to nurture and care for these precious children that have left heaven to come to this fallen world. What a duty Mothers have. Elder Russell M. Nelson gave a talk on a duty that I have to fulfill. That duty is to honor Motherhood. Mothers are the most influential people to their children. They have been given a wonderful gift. The gift of love for their families. I can say that I have experienced this love from my mother! My mother has an abundance of love for each one of her children. Every letter, every email she sends to me starts with "My dearest sweetest Quinn". And it makes me smile every time! She has always been there for me when I was burdened down by the world. My mother, just like my Father in Heaven, always and will always have her arms open ready to receive any member of our family. She is truly the BEST mother in the world! My mother has been the biggest influence in my life. You young men, and fathers, look for your mothers/wifes love! It is there and it will help you! Honor the special sisters in your lives brethren! Express your love for your wife, mother, and sisters. I thank the Lord for my mother and sisters, who like my Heavenly Father, loves me even though I am imperfect!

What keeps us moving?

I feel that life is hard. And I ask myself this question, "why am I still pushing on?" I thought out that inspirational moments will propel me forward but eventually lose its momentum. But I wanted to know what would keep me constantly moving forward. I came across this scripture as I was reading in the Bible. In 1st John 4:18 it says "perfect love casteth out all fear". Then it took me to another scripture in the Book of Mormon, where Moroni says that he is "filled with charity which is everlasting love" (Moroni 8:17). Charity keeps me moving. "Charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, and rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things." (Moroni 7:45) It is because of love that I keep pushing forward. My love for my family helps me to be a good son. My love for my future family helps me to be righteous and to get an education. My love for my Heavenly Father helps me to be obedient to His commandments and to serve one another. I know that if we are filled with love for each other, then we will never fail. We will push through the hard times that want to beat us down. Love is power that can move mountains.
